Position Overview
The Warehouse Associate is responsible for performing an array of duties such as receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organizing, and retrieving stock in the warehouse.
Responsibilities
1. Picking:
- Accurately pick products as per the pick list, ensuring correct items and
quantities are selected. - Follow specific picking instructions, including the method of shipping and
handling of special items. - Perform verification checks to ensure the correct items are picked and are in
sellable condition. - Update inventory through the FIFO system and manage stock rotation.
2. Packing:
- Conduct final verification of items, ensuring order accuracy before shipment.
- Choose appropriate packaging materials and box sizes for the items.
- Securely pack items, using bubble wrap and air cushioning as needed, especially
for fragile goods. - Accurately record box dimensions and weight, and ensure that the pick list is
completed and ready for the manager.
3. Receiving Inventory:
- Oversee the receipt of inventory, ensuring that all items are checked against the
packing list and inspected for damage or discrepancies. - Efficiently stock received items into their designated locations within the
warehouse. - Coordinate with the manager to update inventory records and handle any
discrepancies.
4. Loading/Unloading:
- Operate machinery and vehicles such as forklifts to load and unload goods.
- Work closely with the manager and truck drivers to manage paperwork and
ensure the accuracy of the freight. - Immediately report any damage or inventory issues to the manager.
5. Inventory Restocking:
- Monitor inventory levels and perform routine restocking of products to ensure
availability. - Utilize digital inventory systems to track stock levels and locations.
- Fill empty stock locations with attention to organization and accessibility.
6. Using WMS:
- Monitor inventory levels and proceed with WMS and inventory tools.
- Utilize digital inventory systems to track stock levels and locations.
- Fill empty stock locations with attention to organization and accessibility.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is preferred.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in order fulfillment.
- Familiarity with inventory software, and ability to input and retrieve data.
- Basic math skills for inventory management.
- Basic computer and MS Excel skills for inventory tracking and data entry.
- Certified forklift operator is preferred.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
