Position Overview


The Materials Planner is responsible for ensuring raw materials, components and subassemblies are delivered on time to support production needs. Ensure inventory activities are a key driver of quality, cost efficiency and current best practice within the organization. 




  • Manage inventory to the lowest level without negatively impacting production
  • Manage customer demand and ensure the integrity of the supplier releases
  • Review the SAP tools to ensure on-time delivery from suppliers and customers
  • Maintain a consistent flow of materials to support the production schedule
  • Maintain planning parameters in the SAP system to ensure release integrity
  • Monitor revision levels and ensure coordinated and running changes are managed properly to avoid obsolescence
  • Manage engineering changes by effectively communicating the date of the change to the manufacturing cell. Ensure proper timing of the engineering change to avert obsolescence.
  • Manage the premium freight and chargeback system
  • Manage the supplier rating system
  • Review daily system-generated reports for maintaining inventory accuracy and take corrective action
  • Be the representative for all APQP meetings to ensure single-point communications to plant functional groups
  • Support and promote full SAP and Customer system utilization
  • Ensure plant teams, staff, and associates are accurately trained to expectations outlined in the change process
  • Process owners for all document and data coordination and controls, ensuring compliance with TS 16949 requirements
  • Ensure BOM accuracy
  • Coordinate activities in support of flawless product launches


  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Materials Planning or a closely related field
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the automotive industry
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in planning and scheduling
  • Good math, language, and reading skills with an attention to detail, along with basic computer skills
  • SAP/ERP Operating System experience preferred
  • Forklift certification preferred, but not required
  • High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment
  • Follow instructions for keeping records
  • Ability to work overtime and work flexible schedules/shifts
